·   Amazing Babies Midwifery Education was founded in 2009 and over the past year has evolved into an introductory training program for women desiring to eventually become Certified Professional Midwives (CPM’s), and be accepted for training  at other midwifery programs which are accredited by the Midwifery Education Accreditation Council.  

·   This program is required for any midwifery student requesting Joyce Moxley Thomas to be her preceptor (NCM, NMI, MCU currently), and to be able to work at the AquaNatal Birth Center, seeing our clients. Current CPR & NRP certification also required to be a student midwife. 

·   Our program consists of a “local” and “distance” modular curriculum combined with local clinical practice, followed by enrollment in a MEAC-accredited and California Medical Board approved formal training program if a woman wants to become licensed in California. We teach the Midwifery Model of Care practiced in birth center setting.  We train our students to practice independently but collaboratively within the larger maternity care system. Women completing our program have a strong theoretical base and have demonstrated a beginning range of midwifery skills including IM injection administration, blood pressure, intermittent auscultation of fetal heart tones, basic suturing, introductory pharmacology, nutritional counseling, use of tinctures and homeopathy, and how to assist a mother at a birth (doula training). 

·    Applications for the Amazing Babies Midwifery Distance program are accepted year-round.  Registrations for the Local Amazing Babies Midwifery Intensives, provided at the AquaNatal Birth Center in Chino, CA are accepted Jan-Mar for the Spring series (Basic & Advanced) and July-Sept for the Fall series.  Apply online, send email or call birth center office.
